Welcome to the EM Diary!
The unfiltered diary of an Engineering Manager straight from the trenches.
About ~6 years ago, when I was a senior engineer looking to explore leadership opportunities and build the necessary skills, I found it difficult to get the right resources and connect to the right people. Yes there were books, videos and articles but most of those seemed very high level and generic. I didn’t resonate with the leadership experts or influencers, although I found certain chapters or paragraphs helpful.
What I craved was a regular stream of “notes” on topics that a senior engineer experiences in the real world while growing into a lead or a manager. A series of anecdotes, examples and stories that are grounded in reality. A book that never ends, because the struggle doesn’t. A diary if you will. This is an attempt to create something I wish existed back then!
