What a great article! I have my own family, don’t need an extension of it or a second one. At work I need space to grow, be challenged, meaningfully contribute to a mission I believe in, etc. Thank you for sharing this Suresh!

Absolutely. For younger professional this rhetoric is more dangerous. If the company is your family and you give your everything to it, then you're less likely to start your own family. They may feel more alienated from the society. And what happens when they lose their job?

It’s true that the term family is overused in workplace.

It probably makes more sense in a small startup where founding members fight together for funding and product launch, working overnight together for a set goal.

Yeah. In smaller groups, like startups, this could work for a while.

But even there you're much better off setting clear expectations and holding people accountable, rather than "inspiring" people to work late based on family talk.

We Indians believe in ‘Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’ but our own Dalit and Muslims are treated as slave and enemy respectively. So it is true that the bigger the family bigger the deception.
